With a lot of fireplaces, they need to create an escape for the heat to vent out. To do this they leave a gap at the top of the fireplace wall to create a crown to hide the opening. A gap is not necessary.

Installation Requirements
- This unit must be installed by a licensed, authorized service technician or contractor. Installation has to follow the instructions supplied with the product and all local and national building and fire codes.
- Venting components must be certified for use with this product. Problems caused by uncertified venting or vent terminations are not covered under warranty.
- Parts from other manufacturers will void the warranty.
- Refer to the User Manual and Spec Sheet below for exact venting sizes, clearances and framing dimensions before you frame the opening.
Warranty
Sierra Flame guarantees this gas fireplace to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for 5 years from the date of purchase. That covers combustion chambers, heat exchangers and burners, plus stainless steel parts against tarnishing.
1 year coverage applies to electrical (110 volt and millivolt) components and wearable parts: blowers, gas valves, thermal switches, switches, wiring, remote controls, igniters, gaskets, glass (thermal damage only) and pilot assemblies. Sierra Flame provides replacement parts free of charge during that first year.
Conditions worth knowing before you buy:
- The warranty applies to the original purchaser only, and only when bought through an authorized Sierra Flame dealer. It is nontransferable.
- It does not cover installation, labor, construction, transportation or other related costs.
- It does not cover damage from misuse, lack of maintenance, accident, alteration, abuse or neglect, nor scratches, dents, corrosion or discoloring from excessive heat, abrasives or chemical cleaners.
- Keep your bill of sale. A serial number and model number are required for any warranty claim.
