Choosing the Right Cabinet Bed
Size Considerations
Are you wondering how to choose the perfect cabinet bed that fits your needs? The size is one of the most important factors to consider. Cabinet beds come in various sizes, from twin to queen. To determine the right size, consider the room dimensions and the available space. For instance, a queen-sized cabinet bed usually accommodates two adults comfortably, but it requires more space compared to a twin size.
It's essential to measure the space allotted for the cabinet bed when folded and unfolded. Make sure there is enough room for walking and other furniture when the bed is in use. Here's a list of common sizes:
- Twin: 38" x 75"
- Full/Double: 54" x 75"
- Queen: 60" x 80"
Material Options
When it comes to cabinet beds, the material also plays a crucial role in durability and visual appeal. Two prevalent materials include solid wood and MDF (medium-density fiberboard). Solid wood beds are sturdy, long-lasting, and have a classic appearance. They tend to be more expensive.
MDF is more affordable and boasts a sleek modern look. MDF may not be as durable as solid wood options. Weigh the pros and cons based on your budget, preferences, and desired longevity.
Style and Aesthetics
Consider the style and aesthetics of the cabinet bed to match your room's design. Cabinet beds are available in various styles, colors, and finishes that cater to different tastes and interior designs. You might want a traditional look with intricate details or a sleek simple modern aesthetic, and both are available in the market.
Remember to also pay attention to the cabinet's hardware, as it can impact the appearance. Choose a cabinet bed that aligns with your taste, complements your room's décor, and serves you well in both form and function.

Space Requirements for Queen Bed in Cabinet
Are you looking for a space-saving sleeping solution? A queen bed in a cabinet might be just what you need.
A queen bed in the cabinet, also known as a murphy bed, requires both vertical and horizontal space. When not in use, the bed folds into a cabinet that is mounted against the wall to save space. Once unfolded, a queen-sized bed will extend about 7'3" into the room, and the width of the bed cabinet plus side cabinets can be more than 9'. It's essential to ensure that your room has enough space for the bed to unfold and be used comfortably.
In comparison to murphy beds, cabinet beds generally need less vertical space but more horizontal space when in use. Cabinet beds extend out from the cabinet, taking up significant floor space. Additionally, when the bed is in use, the cabinet may need extra storage space.
When planning for a queen bed in the cabinet, consider the following dimensions:
- Closed Cabinet: Width: approx. 65" - 68", Height: approx. 41" - 44", Depth: approx. 18" - 22"
- Open Bed: Width: approx. 65" - 68", Length: approx. 87", Height: approx. 41" - 44"
These dimensions are approximate and may vary depending on the specific cabinet bed model you choose.
It's crucial to measure your room accurately and verify the space requirements for the queen bed in the cabinet you're considering. By doing so, you'll ensure a comfortable and practical sleeping solution for your small or multipurpose room. We hope this information helps you find the perfect queen bed in the cabinet to suit your needs!
Materials and Construction
Frame Materials
The choice of frame materials plays a crucial role in the quality and durability of the bed. Generally, hardwoods such as oak, maple, and cherry are preferred due to their sturdiness and long-lasting nature. Medium-density fiberboard (MDF) and plywood can be used as a more budget-friendly option. Though their durability might be less compared to hardwood.
Some key factors to consider when selecting frame materials are:
- Strength: The material should be able to support the weight of the mattress and users.
- Durability: The material should be able to withstand wear and tear over time.
- Appearance: The material should complement the room's existing décor.
Mattress Materials
The mattress should provide adequate comfort and support to users while fitting into the cabinet. Queen-sized mattresses usually measure 80" x 60".
- Innerspring: These mattresses feature steel coils that provide support. They are affordable and available but might not offer the same level of comfort as other materials.
- Memory Foam: This material provides a contouring feel as it conforms to the user's body shape. Offering optimal pressure relief and support. Some memory foam mattresses can keep heat, leading to a warm sleeping environment.
- Latex: Latex mattresses offer a balance between support and conforming. Their natural materials tend to be hypoallergenic. They can be somewhat expensive and heavy.
- Hybrid: Hybrid mattresses combine elements of innerspring and foam mattresses. Seeking to provide the best of both worlds. They can be a good choice for cabinet beds, offering a balance of comfort and support.
A well-constructed queen bed in a cabinet should not only provide comfort and functionality. Also, blend with the room's décor. Considering both frame and mattress materials. We can ensure the creation of a cabinet bed that meets our needs and preferences.
Installation of Queen Bed in Cabinet
Have you ever thought about how to install a queen bed in a cabinet? By choosing this space-saving solution, you can maximize space, especially in a smaller room.
We will need the following essential tools: a screwdriver, a level, a tape measure, and your assembled queen bed in a cabinet. Before diving in, remember to always follow the manufacturer's instructions. They can provide specific guidance based on the bed model.
Step 1: Choose the location First, ensure that there is enough space in your chosen area for the cabinet's width, height, and depth. Consider potential obstacles, such as doors, windows, or vents.
Step 2: Prepare the area and level the floor. Remove any obstacles or debris from the floor. If the floor is uneven, use shims or a leveling compound to create a flat, stable surface. This will prevent any wobbling or imbalances when the bed is in use.
Step 3: Place the cabinet bed frame in the location. Carefully lift the cabinet and place it in your chosen spot. It is advisable to have an assistant help you with this step to avoid potential injury.
We will show some techniques and tips for ensuring a secure installation, outlined below:
- Securing the cabinet to the wall: We need to attach the cabinet securely to the wall to prevent it from tipping over during use. Identify the wall studs using a stud finder and drill pilot holes into them. Attach the cabinet to the studs using the appropriate screws, taking care not to overtighten.
- Adjusting the bed mechanisms: Some murphy cabinet beds come with adjustable tension. Optimizing the folding mechanism. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions provided to ensure proper tension and ease of use.
- Attaching safety features: Depending on the model, your cabinet bed may come with extra safety features. Such as locks or straps, to keep the bed in place when not in use. Be certain to install these, following the provided guidelines to maximize safety.
Test the bed's opening and closing mechanism. Ensuring it operates smoothly and without any complications. We hope you can confidently and safely install your queen bed in a cabinet. Creating a functional and aesthetically pleasing addition to your home.

We are very pleased with our Murphy cabinet bed cube. All communication with Archic Furniture has been positive and prompt. The bed is very sturdy, and very attractive! The cabinet had very clear instructions for assembly. We would definitely purchase from this Archic Furniture again should the need arise. We are not full time in our new home yet so are unable to provide a photo. Thank you

I love my Uttermost product and I was very impressed that you called me directly to make sure I received the delivery. How much more professional can a company get! You are the best and I do a lot of ordering with other organizations.
Thank you.
The product was good quality from top to bottom and very easy to assemble.
The bed is solid, well made and had no defects or blemishes. Delivery was quick, on time and the packaging was excellent. It was one of the easiest assemblies we have ever experienced. My husband was especially impressed with how clear the instructions were and the quality of the craftsmanship. We also liked that there were videos on the website that helped explain how to open up and put away the bed itself. The entire process was seamless. We have not slept in the bed yet - our first test will be when our son and daughter-in-law visit in a few weeks, however just lying on the bed it seems very comfortable.
I ordered this bar stool for my outdoor bar and I love it
